Happy
Birthday Ms OÕBrien! Last
week Miss BurnsÕ Year One group wrote a joint recount during their air
lesson: Australia ZooYesterday
my class went to the Australia Zoo. We
saw Steve Erwin feed the crocodiles. Next we saw the Polar Bears. They were
huge. They were playing in the water. Lastly,
we saw the slippery snakes. I got to hold an Anaconda snake. I felt scared. I
had a really good day at the zoo. I canÕt wait to go again. Well
done Year One! Australia Zoo sounds like an exciting place to visit. Kindergarten
enrolment forms are now available for 2005. Please contact Fiona Rankmore. Week
5 is fast approaching for the workshop. An itinerary will be sent out next
week but in regards to food, we will have a BBQ on Wednesday and Spaghetti
Bolognaise on Thursday night. Lunch on Wednesday will be sandwiches and on
Thursday we will have hotdogs. Families will need to bring the following
items:
|
DonÕt
forget to think of an item for skit night Ð it will be hard to match the
standard set at KahmooÉ Please
let me know if you have any concerns in regards to the workshop. Mr
OÕMally, Miss Burns and Ms OÕBrien enjoyed their home visits last week. They
were able to get lots of work done with William and Emily Ciesiolka and Sarah
and Michael McManus. Thankyou to the McManus family for having all three
teachers to stay. I heard the apple pie was very good!

This
week, Miss Burns and myself are looking forward to heading out to Avondale to
see Kate Ponder for her home visit.
Two
changes have been made to home visits on the term planner : Magrath 2/3 September
and Murray (Idalia) on 9th
September. This is so Ms OÕBrien can attend the moviemaking workshop in week
6 as she is our technology guru. A
fax came from the VISE publicity office this week in regards to VISE tutors
that are available for terms 3 and 4. Mr Rob Seekamp is now the local area
coordinator for VISE in NSW. It is the VISE organisationÕs 15th
year of operations and they remain very enthusiastic to assist families in
remote areas of Australia who teach their children via Distance Education. VISE
has many tutors keen and enthusiastic to come to NSW families. Travel
assistance is available to families in need. Families who would like
assistance from a VISE tutor should contact Rob Seekamp on 08-80911509. Last term a tourist from Newcastle sent our school several copies of a hard cover book titled ÒNewcastleÓ with lots of pictures and information about the city. A copy of the book was given to each of the Year 6 students and we still have several copies which have been added to our library. If anyone is interested in borrowing these books, they are now available to be borrowed. We
also have additional copies of ÒIn the DistanceÓ in our library available for
loan. This is a magazine distributed to all Distance Education CentreÕs in
Australia and New Zealand and there is an article and photoÕs in it about our
day at Jandra with the Paralympians as well as Micheal McManusÕ ÒScary LandÓ
story. Attached
is a map from Rose Ann to get us all to Ourimbah. Lets hope this beautiful
weather continues!! Surely two workshops canÕt be postponed in one yearÉÉ I
hope everyone is having a good week. I am looking forward to seeing most of
you at the athletics carnival on Friday. It will start at 9am and run all
day. Regards, Pip
