Week 1 Term 3                                                   Monday 19th July

Hello and welcome back to Term 3! It is hard to believe we are now half way through the year! I hope everybody had a lovely holiday and got the chance to rest and relax.

As you would have noticed on your term planner, our workshop this Term will be at ÒOurimbahÓ, home of the Myors family. The survey conducted at the end of last term showed that the majority of families wanted to continue having Term 3 workshopÕs out of town. With OH&S regulations, the out of town workshops may soon become a thing of the past so weÕd best enjoy them while we can.

Some valid points were raised for both arguments;

For ÒIn TownÓ workshops:

  • Parents enjoy out of town wÕshops more than the children Ð children would benefit more in a school setting with access to resources.

For ÒOut of TownÓ workshops:

  • They are the ÔglueÕ that hold parents, teachers , students & govies together
  • Less expensive
  • More of a community atmosphere Ð In town, parents go down the streetand do jobs rather than get involved in the workshop.

There was also a suggestion made that for the next in town workshop, the school provide breakfast and lunch and families then have the option to go out to dinner if they like. Something to consider.

So in regards to this termÕs workshop, we have decided to celebrate book week. We will have a book parade to conclude the workshop and we would like all of the students to dress up as one of their favourite book characters. If any students want a particular book sent to them from our library for costume ideas, let us know and we will send it out.

The P&C are to be congratulated on being awarded a small equipment grant. Gabie LeLievre received the exciting news during the holidays that the P&CÕs application for a ÔQuick ShadeÕ had been approved. This will be very handy during the summer, particularly at the swimming carnival. A special thanks to Gabie and Sally for their efforts in putting in the submission. It was obviously very convincing. Well done!

Congratulations to Murray Hatch who performed extremely well at Pony Camp during the holidays. He has been selected to compete at State Level which is very exciting.

We hope Adam Davis is feeling much better after a nasty motor-bike accident he had in the last week of last term. He ended up with slight concussion and eight stitches in his head. Not the ideal way to start school holidays!

Mr OÕMally has received some fabulous postcards from his kindergarten students as part of an English unit they did last term.

On RenaeÕs postcard from Coonabarabran she wrote:

To Mr OÕMally,

We drove to NannyÕs place. Everybody is here. From Renae.

Coonabarabran looks very pretty with all those hills Renae.

Dear Mr OÕMally,

I am at the sea. I went for a swim. I saw a fish. I played in the sand.

Keep up the great work everybody! This is going to be a very busy term with lots of different activities to look forward to.

I hope everyone is managing to keep warm on these cold frosty mornings!
